Get out of your comfort zone - Tanvi Shah

Tanvi Shah - Ex Pro Athlete

Tell us more about your profession. What made you choose the same?
I had never even thought of being a presenter. It just happened and then I realized that I really enjoy it. I had been on camera before, but in a different capacity, and now I was in charge of leading the conversation.

When did you feel that you wish to broaden your horizon and get into something new?
Honestly, every day I think of doing something new. I’m someone who likes to try everything. I might not be good at it all, but everything is an experience and teaches you something.

“Every ending is a new beginning”, how would you say this applies to your journey?
Sport has been a huge part of my life. When I was young, it started as a hobby and for exercise. It evolved into a passion when I decided to become a pro-tennis athlete and play for India, and then I found a career in it - presenting sports and representing & managing athletes.
When my journey as a pro athlete ended I really didn’t know what direction to take. When I finished college in America, I wasn’t sure if I wanted to come back. I feel like you have to finish something to start something new, to let something new enter your life when there’s space. And I think that’s how me trying different things led me to where I am today.

Three pieces of advice you would give your younger self?
        • Stop overthinking
          • Learn to say No
            • It’s ok to not be liked by all
Everything always works out in the end. There’s no substitute for hard work and discipline.

How does one get out of their comfort zone and try something new or branch?
Honestly, I think you’ll only know once you try. So it’s just a matter of taking that first step and then the rest will play itself out
The key is definitely to focus on the present. Often we’re coloured by our past or expectations of the future, but if you’re focused on the “now” you can encourage yourself to do anything.

What does jewellery mean to you?
Jewellery to me is an expression of my mood or personal values and beliefs.

Which is your favourite Cirque piece?
The Cirque Collection was something I was drawn to because of the key motif of the circle- it reminds me of the athlete’s mindset that I always want to remember -  that you may win or lose today, but tomorrow is another day and you have to dust off both your glory & failures and still start again, at the beginning of the circle and give it your all.
I love the cirque bracelet. It’s dainty and perfect for everyday wear, but it’s also versatile enough to accessorize a more dressy look because of the little hanging motifs.

Follow your passion, even if it means quitting your job - Nicole Concessao

                Nicole Concessao - Team Naach

Tell us more about your profession. What made you choose the same?
A dancer, choreographer, teacher, & content creator who has also co-founded Team Naach, one of India’s most loved dance YouTube channels with close to a family of 4M subscribers. Dance has been my greatest passion from my childhood & I honestly never imagined it ever becoming my career. But it was a chance I took, while doing my PR job, to start teaching a close bunch of students about 6 years ago. Gradually we moved to creating dance videos for YouTube which helped us reach out to a whole new audience.

“Every ending is a new beginning”, how would you say this applies to your journey?
6 years ago I took the chance of starting something with a friend as a hobby - teaching dance. 5 years ago I took the chance and quit my well paying secure PR job to pursue dance alone. 7 months ago we went from teaching in multiple studios across Mumbai & the country to online classes. Every decision to reinvent has come from the willingness to do more & get out of my comfort zone.

Three pieces of advice you would give your younger self?
                • Don’t be afraid of speaking your mind.
                • Always believe in yourself
                • It’s totally okay to not get things right the first time, so keep pushing.

How does one get out of their comfort zone and try something new or branch?

Surround yourself with people who inspire you to achieve more. They may be friends or even people you often read about or look up to online. We’ve noticed a shift in how women are turning their passions & talents into business opportunities for themselves. This inspires us!

Follow your Dreams - Sonal Ved

Sonal Ved - Vogue India Food Editor

What about your profession excites you the most?
Food is not static, it’s ever-evolving, it connects you to history, the geography of the land, it has a sociological interpretation. So you’ll always have something new to marvel at. The most exciting part about being a cookbook author or a food editor is the opportunity to work with other creatives—chefs, producers, editors, writers, photographers. You almost thrive on each other's creativity.

When did you feel that you wish to broaden your horizon and get into something new?
A few years into my career as a food writer, my editor Meenal Bhagel from Mumbai Mirror told me, “write a book. What are you waiting for? To turn 100 and then write one?”. That line inspired me to at least start the process of writing my first book Gujju Goes Gourmet, which was India’s first cookbook on a phone. Which then led to Tiffin, my second one.

“Every ending is a new beginning”, how would you say this applies to your journey?
I don’t view the world as black and white, this or that, ends and beginnings. Think of life like one juicy burger, events and opportunities are like the base, the relish, the patty, the cheese, the lettuce (never a tomato). In the end, everything will eventually lead into one smacking dish. You just have to keep building.

                Half Bangle Half Bracelet

Three pieces of advice you would give your younger self?
                • Kindness will always be in fashion
                • Eat your fruit
                • Have Godfidence

How does one get out of their comfort zone and try something new or branch out?
Divide seemingly large tasks into smaller ones and start with those first. Over time, you’ll get the confidence to venture out fully. Or you can just drink your coffee, roll your hair up in a bun and do it, anyway.

                  Hammered Metal Texture Earrings

What does jewellery mean to you?
It’s a reminder that no matter what, always stay golden

Which is your favourite Cirque piece?
The bracelet is stunning. It’s delicate, so it doesn't interfere when I’m cooking or testing a recipe out.
